I used to assign flashcards for new vocabulary as I introduced it. This year I tried offering them other options for studying the vocabulary to see how well students responded.
Aside from the fact that I honestly think more are getting them done on time than in the past, I have received good feedback from the students. I found out that QUIZLET.com has an app when a student asked if he could just show me his list on his phone (he said that he was using it on his phone daily). I’ve had students tell me that even if they didn’t use the listening option for the homework, they’ve started using that to practice before our quizzes. (My vocab quizzes involve listening to the vocab words).
